What is PEA?
PEA is an acronym which stands for Point, Evidence, Analyse which teachers use to help engage students with analysis of text. It is a structure which can remind students to include certain analysis points in their writing.
It is sometimes know as:
PEE - Point Evidence Explain
PMEAL - Point Moment Evidence Analyse Link
When should you use PEA?
Eduqas Language GCSE PEA should be used but the writing needs to be concise. You will use this in 1A - Fiction Reading, questions A2 - A5 and 2A - Non-Fiction questions A2 & A4 - A6.
Eduqas Literature - All components of this exam
Paper One - 1A - Shakespeare, 1B, Anthology Poems,
Paper Two - 2A - 1914 prose (we are doing a choice of Blood Brothers, An Inspector Calls or Lord of the Flies, 2B - 19th Century Prose (we are doing A Christmas Carol) and 2C - Unseen Poetry.
AQA Language - PEA can be used in Fiction Paper 1 Section A - Q2 - Q4 and
Non-Fiction Paper 2 Section A - Q2 - Q4
AQA Literature - PEA can be used for all components
Paper 1 Section A - Shakespeare Paper 1 Section 2 - 19th Century Novel
Paper 2 Section A - Modern Texts either Prose or Drama, Section B - Poetry Anthology and Section C - Unseen Poetry
